UK based University with more than 10 lakh books in the library

Highlights:
A UK based University for which the work of library digitization has been undertaken. WIS acts as priority partner with the client for complete digitization of the library.

Client requirements:
The client required library digitization in span of 2 Yrs. The main tasks included converting .tiff images to .html format without using any conversion software to avoid digital noise.

Challenges:
One of the major challenges faced by WIS was to familiarize its team with error identification, conversion process and time scheduling.
The client required 99.9% accuracy with text and HTML Conversion.

  • The material was available on FTP to be downloaded on batch basis on fortnightly basis to WIS after they had it scanned into .tiff format by one of their local agencies.
  • The entire text had to be proofread to ensure textual accuracy.
  • The proofread text had to be converted as per the predefined standards set by the client
  • HTML must be well formatted and valid.

Solution:

WIS, for HTML conversion receives data for conversion from printed material to digital format using XML/HTML. We are in handled HTML conversion for some of the major libraries and academic institutions.

Project Details:

Highlights:
The client has global presence in around 56 countries with their sales office in India. Scope of work comprises of complete Network and Server Management activities keeping Head of IT and all the branches across the globe in network. 

Client requirements:
To Set-up, service and monitor LAN, WAN and ancillary network management and server management solutions involving data management, server mirroring and real time backup, support and maintenance. The requirement also included Hardware procurement, Infrastructure augmentation and onsite maintenance and support.

Challenges:

  • Getting accustomed to the global network of the client and setting up the network relevant to the staff and depts. across the globe.
  • The client required runtime transition, update and integration on all the mission critical operations, also reporting on the updates should reflect in a central reporting server on end of the day.
  • Setting up new IT Policies adhering to SOX’s compliance.

Solution:
WIS Managed services team played a pivotal role in studying the client organization, creating system architecture, setting up all the processes & policies according to the management governance and guidelines making it a smooth transition for the management and the users.
A proper maintenance update schedule and reporting module was set on global operations.
WIS was successful in setting up and implementing complete management operating-control-review mechanism.
